Saint Patricks day BBQ at the woodhouse- La Torre Golf

The woodhouse /clubhouse at La Torre Golf Resort will be holding a Saint Patricks day BBQ.

Cost 20 euros (does not include drinks)
Time: TBC but is lunchtime

There will also be live entertainment

ROLDAN FIESTAS PATRONALES

The market town of Roldan, which is situated next to La Torre Golf Resort is holding its Fiestas in March, the fairground is being set up and the programme has been released. See below for the programme in spanish. There are lots of Verbenas (spanish parties where young and old are)

22:30 - Verbena, Election of the Dames of honour and Miss Infant, with the band  "ESTRELLA DEL SUR" playing.

Sunday 6th March

10:00hrs - XIX - Motorbike congregation, with spectacle of Emilio Zamora

17:00hrs -XXl contest of Colombicultura. I had to look this one up and its coloured messenger pidgeon competition. The other day I was out in the country and I saw a flock of these birds and its an amazing thing to see as they have beautiful coloured wings and fly as a pack. Absolutely stunning and entrancing.

With releases on the 6th, 10th, 13th,17th and the final on the 19th.

23:00hrs - Animation with lots of surprises and the performance of the "DUO CAMPESTRE"

16:00hrs - Foam party - for the kids

22:30hrs - Verbena-  with the Band " LA TENTACION"

CARNAVAL 2011 - CARTAGENA

Cartagena´s Carnaval started on Saturday 26th February 2011 and goes on till the 8th of March.

Lots going on as you will see from the programme below, which is now being done in english :)

The translation for parade though has somehow become "pasacaglia" !

The biggest parades are on the 5th and the 8th of March

and also noteworthy is the Childrens carnaval on the 6th of march

UPCOMING EVENTS/BANDS ON LA TORRE

I still haven´t received the posters yet but..... I have been told by the Clover Bar that there are 2 events planned:

Next Saturday 5th of March Chess will be playing at the Clover (this has been confirmed to me by one of the band members too)

Chess are a queen tribute band with a difference, if you haven't seen Chess yet you should definatly get down there as they are superb! to see pictures and a video of them in action click here:

Then on Thursday the 17th of March there will be a SAINT PATRICKS DAY party at the Clover , with beer promotions, Guiness freebies, Whiskey Jameson party and INDIANA HIGHWAY playing live.

Wed 23rd February = Crib/Film Night at the Roldan Grill showing Bucket List at 7pm







Thursday 24th February = Roldan Social Group meeting. 3pm at the Roldan Grill. New members welcome.






Wed 2nd March = Golf putting tournament at Torre Pacheco. Price is 12 euros for members, non members 14 euros to include a round of golf and chicken , chips and salad. Meeting at the Roldan Grill at 1pm.






Wed 16th March = Murcia City tour. Proposed itinerary but things to be finalised at meeting on Thurday 24th.
 

Wednesday 16th March.

The visit will be to the central area and the southern side of the river.

Places to be visited,

The newly restored Casio (This is not a gambling casio).

The Cathedral square including

The Cathedral, Bishops Palace, Music School,

The town Hall, Bank Art Gallery (depending upon exhibition dates)

The Old Grain mill.

The Old military Barrack square complex which contains the Aquarium, Science history and art displays

The full tour is under 3 kilometres in distance and will take approximately 4hours.

There is ample opportunity for refreshment and rest breaks en route.

Travel will be by bus or by car. Directions and meeting points etc will be given nearer the date

Saurines golf  (Terrazas) is holding a Pro-Am event on 20th Feb

-20th February- Saurines de la Torre Pro am


-21st February - Official practice round


-22nd February -First round

-23rd February r-Round 2 -cut top 40 professionals and ties


-24th February -Final round

RESTAURANTE ASADOR - LOS NARANJOS

Restaurante Asador Los Naranjos, is a Restaurant that has been thoroughly reccomended to me by some friends who spent time at Hacienda Riquelme and had eaten frequently in this restaurant and sing its praises.

They have a normal menu but also do a Menu del Dia


This is served 7 days a week at lunchtime and change daily but are all similar, Salad to start, then starters which always include Paella (excellent), 6 main courses including 2 fish, plus sweet, coffee, bread and wine carafe included. They also do a daily tapas of around 6 hot and 6 cold items, around €4 including a glass of wine.

 
You can see from image below, its located on the new motorway from San Javier to Santomera, just a few minutes from the exit off the AP7 onto this motorway you will arrive at the start of the new motorway and the new roundabout which has a huge statue of a strong man lifting the roundabout up, take the service road up the side of the motorway (direction Santomera, sucina)

Update: I went and tried this place myself one lunchtime with a friend and it was very good, Every day is a different menu, they bring the menu out, so you can actually see what they serve on other days, it is also in english, we had 2 menu of the day, plus 2 drinks and coffees and it came to 10.50 each!

Very busy, they must have done 50 sittings when we were there.
