Nest Walks - Sierra Espuña

See details below of forthcoming Nest walks in Sierra Espuña

This month of January, on Friday 27th in just under 2 weeks' time, we're doing the very easy fossilized Dinosaur Footprint walk with the little bridge that makes everyone look like intrepid explorers (bring cameras and show pics to relatives and friends!) although it's very easy and anyone can do it! This walk culminates in our going to the beautiful mountain restaurant set amongst scenic pine trees where we often see wild boar. We may also have a quick visit to the Visitors' Centre before eating at the authentic, Spanish-run, mountain restaurant. The walk is 5 euros and the meal which includes salad, starter, main course, dessert and a drink and coffee is 9 euros. Bookings are still being taken for this walk.

In February we go on our wonderful Almond Blossom Trail, which is only possible at this time of year - so miss it and it's gone till 2013 (!) We have two dates - Friday 17th and Friday 24th February. We'll be seeing the most exquisite almond blossom in all shades of white, cream and pink covering the countryside around El Berro. There is nothing that instils as much hope and inspiration as seeing beautiful fresh blossom, which heralds spring and summer and makes us aware that really warm sunshine and sizzlingly hot days are just around the corner! A very easy walk as usual, lasting only 2 -3 hours and culminating in a drive through more almond blossom country to see blossom on all sides as we approach a different inland restaurant near Mula known for its excellent cuisine and food choices at very reasonable menu del dia prices (usually around 9 euros, and again the walk is 5 euros).

Your dogs are very welcome too on leads, although specifically on the Almond Blossom Trail dogs can't come into that particular Mula restaurant so it would only be possible if you're happy keeping your dog in your car in a shady spot while you eat, or not coming to the optional restaurant meal. However on the Dinosaur Footprint walk, it would be easier for you to bring dogs as we do tend to sit outside in the sun at that mountain restaurant and there is no problem there unless by any unlikely chance it's cold and we sit indoors. (We don't walk if it rains!)

All the walks above will be meeting at 10.30 in El Berro car park on the day. You do need to book ahead and can't just turn up as places are limited for various reasons including the restaurant only being able to take a maximum amount..

Either phone or text 679002147 with all your names and Spanish contact phone numbers, or email the same details to natureespunatrails@gmail.com and wait for confirmation back. It's best not to leave booking to the last minute as sometimes walks reach full capacity and bookings can't be taken then, and you may be disappointed.

Feel free to forward this email to your friends who are not yet on the mailing list too.

Looking forward to hearing from you and seeing you soon!

Kind regards,

Louisa
