MIRADOR DEL CORAZON DE JESUS

Running on from my last blog , up near the walled medieval Town of Aledo is another fantastic walk (or you can drive it). Just before you get to Aledo, you go past the Monastry of Santa Eulalia, which is now a Hotel and Restaurant, then at the next roundabout you will see the signs to get to The Mirador.

A is the Monastry and B is the top of the Walk.

The walk is uphill, but along the way there are white statues, each one follows the stations of the cross, Culminating when you get to the top of the hill with a huge statue of Christ open armed and absolutely stunning views down the mountain. Well worth either walking or driving up.

To see (in English) the descriptions of the "14 Stations" click here http://www.vistaverdetrails.co.uk/?stationsofthecross

If you combine going up on third sunday of the month you could go to the artesan market in Alhama before.
Enjoy :)

ESTRECHO DE LA AGUALEJA

A few kilometres from the walled medieval town of Aledo is the ESTRECHO DE LA AGUALEJA.
This is a hidden geological site, where erosion has made a magical place to go for a walk,
Seemingly if you walk carefully and pay attention you will see fosils from the sea!

How to get there, take the road from Totana to Aledo (which btw is well worth a stop, a walled medieval Town), take the turning to Noniway- RMC21, before km2 on the left is a tarmaced road which takes you to "Estrecho de Agualeja"

This road takes you to a picnic area and parking area, where you can leave your car and go on your walk into a forgotten stunning area.

If you combine going up on the 3rd sunday of the month, you could go to the artesan market in Alhama before
